AN ITALIAN VACATION VILLA FOR RENT, ROUGHLY HALF WAY BETWEEN FLORENCE AND ROME

Just fifty miles south of Siena stands Villa Le Terme, an ancient and beautiful stone farmhouse dating from the 15th century, located in one of Tuscany's most charming areas. It stands in the vicinity of the mediaeval village of San Casciano dei Bagni - a famous spa resort that draws visitors from all over the world, and at the centre of a wine- and olive oil-producing estate.

The name Le Terme (the word Terme means 'spa') derives from the warm, natural water that gushes out from a spring on the property. An attractive swimming-pool and changing rooms have been built to exploit the thermal water which maintains a constant temperature of 28  Centigrade - come rain or shine.

The spring brought monks to settle and meditate here more than a thousand years ago and so the origins of the house go back many centuries. The villa has recently undergone extensive renovations and has all mod-cons, though its typical Tuscan style has been carefully preserved. Set in a beautiful, two-acre within a larger farm estate, Le Terme is an ideal sanctuary for those in search of peace and relaxation.

The house and its gardens enjoy truly magnificent views of the Tuscan countryside stretching as far as Montepulciano and Pienza. Ground Floor:

To the right of the entrance there is a service bathroom and a small sitting-room with TV. This opens out onto a spacious kitchen and dining room, both with fireplaces. The ground floor also has another sitting room with sofas, stairs leading up to the first floor and then a double living room with fireplace and French windows that give on to the outside terrace and garden. Old oak beamed ceilings and terracotta flooring are a key feature.

First Floor:

The lobby area at the top of the stairs features a small library. To the right a double bedroom and a twin bedroom share a bathroom with tub. A corridor takes you to a triple bedroom and bathroom with shower, also shared with another double bedroom. A further double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with tub completes the floor.
