Situated in the historical 'quartiere' of Santa Croce, this lovely B& B represents an ideal place for relaxing and visiting Florence. It is situated in a very quiet street, just a few metres away from the magnificent Church of Santa Croce (Church of the Holy Cross). This is a pleasant area of Florence to stay in, as it is not on the main tourist route, but at the same time is very lively, full of artisan workshops, markets and hidden and silent spaces.

The Bed and Breakfast comprises four comfortable double rooms in a small building, all perfectly charmingly renovated: la Martinella, la Trecca, la Montanina and la Squilla are their original names, chosen in honour of the famous old bells that used to echo through the city of Florence.

Each room has its own individual identity; they are all elegantly furnished and supplied with private bathroom, telephone, and air conditioning. The breakfast is a rich meal of bread, toast, juices and home made cakes, served on the terrace. B and B Santa Croce also organise cooking lessons: you can go all together to the market together, shop together, and return to prepare some of the best traditional recipes, which of course will be served on the terrace accompanied by excellent Tuscan wines.

Mariangela and Cristina personally prepare breakfast, and if you should wish to dine in the soft glow of candlelight on the flowered outdoor terrace, they will happily organize this evening treat. Throughout the day the terrace will always be accessible should you want to read, write or just take a rest there. The fridge, close at hand, is fully supplied with fresh drinks and should you prefer a hot drink you can make tea or coffee as you wish.

LA MARTINELLA: La Martinella, on the first floor, overlooks the quiet street where the accommodation is located. It has telephone, air conditioning and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer.

LA TRECCA: The distinguishing feature of la Trecca is its beautiful flower balcony that overlooks the jasmine covered pergola shading the terrace. This room too has a private bathroom with a big shower, hairdryer and all other facilities - telephone and air conditioning.

LA MONTANINA: The twin beds in la Montanina are original Tuscan woodwork of the 19th century. This room, placed on the second floor, has two windows that look out on the quiet street. The private bathroom is furnished with a big shower and hairdryer. Like all the other rooms in our Bed and Breakfast, la Montanina is supplied with phone and air conditioning.

LA SQUILLA: And the most romantic of all the rooms is la Squilla; just below the roof, it receives light through two characteristic light-wells in the ceiling. Supplied with telephone and air conditioning, this room has its bathroom outside the room itself, but for exclusive use of the occupants of la Squilla. This small inconvenience is highly compensated in the shape a big comfortable hydro massage bathtub.

FACILITIES A cheerful and friendly team in the kitchen is the best guarantee for a pleasant stay, and, you are invited to enjoy rich breakfasts: White or wholemeal bread, wheat bread or bread made from different cereals, fresh or toasted, spread with home made jams made by Mariangela herself. Our honey is biologically produced and seasonal fresh fruit is available. Drinks include orange juices, fresh milk and yoghurt. Those who have a sweet tooth can enjoy the home made cakes and doughnuts, but different types of salami and cheeses are available for those of you who enjoy a salty meal.

THE AREA With its markets, small secluded gardens, artisan craft shops, and some of the best restaurants in town, Santa Croce is a quarter for connoisseurs. Still authentic, and just remote enough from the incessant flow of tourists, this quarter is well equipped to ensure a pleasant stay.
