Sleeping up to 16, this magnificent villa in Chianti is the perfect place for family and friends to relax in perfect privacy.

The villa, located between Arezzo and Florence, has seven double bedrooms and six bathrooms (five en-suite). Set amidst 32 acres of its own botanical garden, with olive trees, oaks and meadows, the villa has its own theatre and swimming pool. Past clients include famous artists, actors, singers ... even astronauts.

The villa was built more than 300 years ago and, in 1997, was fully restructured by hand, using traditional methods and organic principles. Lovingly restored by the owners, using only natural materials, the original character of the house has been carefully preserved. The house now has two fully equipped kitchens, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a barbecue and a private swimming pool (12x6 metres).

Extensive natural gardens stretch out towards the mountains on the horizon, with inviting pathways which meander through meadows of wild flowers. The open-air private amphitheatre was designed and built in 2002 by the owner. Nestling in the heart of the woods and set against the natural backdrop of spectacular oaks and junipers, the amphitheatre hosts professional performances during the warmer months of the year.

Cook Maria is available from Monday to Saturday, to prepare Tuscan dishes with home-made pasta and other local specialities.

The house itself reflects the total peace and tranquility of its surroundings. The rooms are spacious, furnished with antiques, yet offering every modern convenience.

Villa Selvino is a house for all seasons. The old stone walls keep it cool in the summer sun, while great open fireplaces offer warmth and comfort during cooler months. You can spend the days relaxing by the pool or dozing quietly under the spreading oaks.

The ground floor has a spacious living/dining room with TV, VCR, satellite TV and piano. There is a telephone line and a large open fireplace, and a second living area with TV and fireplace. The two kitchens are both fully equipped with fridge-freezers, large stove/ovens and dishwashers. One has a wood-fired pizza oven. There are two double bedrooms, one with an extra bed; a bathroom with bath; a second bathroom with shower; and a separate laundry room with a washing machine.

The first floor has a large living room with three arched windows overlooking the grounds; five large double/twin bedrooms; two doubles with en-suite bathrooms; one twin with en-suite bathroom; one double with extra bed and one twin bedroom with shared bathroom.

Villa Selvino is situated on a knoll - part of the gentle slopes of the Chianti hills facing the Arno valley. It is flanked by two streams, the Pozzo ai Diavoli and the Rimaggio. The 32 acres are planted with ancient olives, oaks and lush meadows. This place, where nature has created her own world with advice from no-one, is perfect for a garden. This is a place to relax, forget time and meditate.

In the wood of centuries-old oaks above the house, the theatre lies in perfect harmony with nature. It was constructed with stones from the nearby woods, arranged one on top of the other, without mortar, forming five semi-circular rows of seats for spectators. The theatre is a particularly evocative spot suitable for just about any type of gathering, from conferences to film shows, concerts and plays. This is a place also suitable for spending long periods of time with no specific purpose in mind ... just relaxing.

From here you can explore the countryside, famed for its historic castles, typical Tuscan villages and, of course, its wine. Arezzo, Florence and Siena are equidistant from here, around 40 minutes by car or train. And despite its total privacy and seclusion, Villa Selvino is only 10km from the main A1 highway, and 5km from Montevarchi, the main town of the Arno Valley.

Montevarchi has a large retail area, and excellent shopping. There are the Prada, Gucci, Armani and Dolce e Gabbana factory shops. You’ll find restaurants, tennis courts and a regular train service to Florence, Arezzo (and every main Italian city). And there are taxis, car rentals, pharmacies, indoor and outdoor swimming pools ... everything you are likely to need.
