FLORENCE APARTMENTS (FOR 2-8 PEOPLE) IN A NINETEENTH CENTURY FLORENTINE PALACE

The Palazzo dell’Accademia (formerly Palazzo Pascolutti - Giani) is a 19th century building composed of 21 completely renovated  apartments. The  building was previously home to the Accademia dei Risoluti, which gave birth  to the Alfieri theatre.

On the main entrance there is an engraving of the Cavallo Sfrenato - the galloping horse - symbol of the Accademia dei  Risoluti and their motto 'valoroso destrier passa e non cura' - a brave horse  passing without fear.

The building is found in Via Pietrapiana at the point where the road meets Piazza Ciompi. In this very noble square, once home to the Ghiberti family, and  situated opposite the Palazzo dell’Accademia, there is the Loggia del Pesce by Vasari, simple and linear in design, and composed of 18 thin Doric columns  with a variety of small round terracotta fish.

In  Piazza dei Ciompi there is probably the only fixed flea-market in  Italy, open every day, morning and  evening. Here you'll find old lamps, books, objets bijou and assorted pieces from the recent and distant past. On the last Sunday of every month the market becomes larger, the ranks swelled by about 100 additional stalls, spread around the streets surrounding the Piazza.

Palazzo dell'Accademia is found in the centre of the old city, about 150 metres from the square of Santa Croce, 350 metres from Piazza del  Duomo, and about 500 metres from Via Tornabuoni, the most famous and exclusive shopping street in Florence.

The palazzo has two modern elevators to get to the apartments, and in front of the building there is car parking for about 12 cars. Inside there is a reception area to receive and assist  guests; each apartment has central heating, air conditioning, telephone and separate connections for Internet and satellite TV. There is also a fully  fitted corner kitchen which includes cooker, oven, dish washer and  fridge. On  every floor there are washing machines and tumble dryers at the disposition of  the guests.

Apartment Boccaccio - R3 (sleeps 4+2) - 105m²

First floor, overlooking Via di Mezzo. A four-room apartment consisting of a living room with a  well equipped kitchen-corner, a large hall with a double sofa bed, 2 double  bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and one with twin beds (queen sized on request), two bathrooms (one with tub and one with shower). The apartment has a  large private terrace of 55m².
